In Greene County district court Kimberly Ann Hill, 50, of Jefferson was sentenced to 10 years in prison May 4 after she changed her plea to guilty to a charge of manufacture of methamphetamine. The prison term was suspended and she was placed on probation for three years. Her driver’s license was suspended for 180 days. Hill was fined $1,000 with a $350 surcharge. The fine and surcharge were suspended. She must pay a $125 Law Enforcement Initiative (LEI) surcharge, a $10 surcharge for drug abuse resistance education (DARE), $180 restitution for her court appointed attorney’s fees and $201 court costs. Amanda Pamela Collogan, 30, of Grand Junction was fined $100 with a $35 surcharge after she pleaded guilty to a charge of reckless driving, amended from operating while intoxicated (OWI)-first offense. Tyler Anthony Kokenge, 33, of Jefferson was sentenced to two days in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of OWI-first offense. He must pay a $48 per day sheriff’s fee for the time he serves, and he must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. He was fined $1,250 with a $437.50 surcharge. Half the fine and surcharge will be waived if he obtains a temporary restricted license. Kokenge must pay a $10 DARE surcharge, a $125 LEI surcharge, and $180 court costs. A charge of possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver was dismissed. (Sentencing: Ostlund)
Lisa Nicole Pierce, 35, of Carroll was sentenced to two years in prison after she changed her plea to guilty to a charge of possession of marijuana-third or subsequent offense. The prison term was suspended and she was placed on probation for two years. She must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at her own expense. Her driver’s license was revoked for 180 days. Pierce was finned $625 with a $218.75 surcharge. The fine and surcharge were suspended. Pierce must pay a $10 DARE surcharge, a $125 LEI surcharge, $120 restitution for her court appointed attorney’s fees and $100 court costs. Two charges of burglary-third degree and a charge of possession of burglar’s tools against Mark Lee Jackson, 48, of Des Moines were dismissed May 8 “in the furtherance of justice.” Jackson, serving as his own attorney while in the Greene County jail, successfully argued that he was denied due process in that he was not allowed a timely initial appearance in court and that the original search of his vehicle was illegal. The dismissal was signed by Judge Kester. Jackson has appealed the dismissal because the charges were not dismissed “without prejudice” as his motion had requested.
Eliza Joy Smith, 25, of Grand Junction was sentenced to two years in prison after she changed her plea to guilty to a charge of child endangerment. The prison term was suspended and she was placed on probation for two years. She was fined $625 with a $218.75 surcharge. Smith also changed her plea to guilty to a charge filed in the same case of OWI-first offense. She must serve two days in the county jail and pay a $48 per day sheriff’s fee. She was fined $1,250 with a $437.50 surcharge and a $10 DARE surcharge. Court costs were $60. A charge of possession of marijuana was dismissed. A charge in magistrate court of possession of drug paraphernalia was also dismissed. (Sentencing: Kester)
